Class Styles

Original Hot Yoga 90

26 postures. 40 degrees. 90 minutes. It’s time to sweat.

Original Hot Yoga 90 is a 90-minute class featuring 26 postures (asanas) and 2 breathing exercises.

Our Original Hot Yoga 90 series is designed to heal the body systematically through performing the asanas in a set sequence. Each posture is done twice, and is intended to stretch and strengthen specific muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints needed for the next posture; as well as stimulating the organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood throughout the body and helping restore all systems to a healthy working order.

Benefits: OHY 90 will help you lose weight, build muscle tone, enhance your well-being and peace of mind. It has been shown to relieve back problems, chronic pain, depression, insomnia, digestion problems, high blood pressure, arthritis, and more.

Although the main emphasis is on alignment and safety of postures, this class is very challenging. You will have to make demands of yourself. It requires tremendous concentration and careful listening to the teacher’s precise instructions.

Original Hot Yoga 60

The Original Hot Yoga series, done in 60 minutes.

This Original Hot Yoga class is 60 minutes (OHY 60) and offered heated and unheated. It is popular as a stepping stone towards the Original Hot Yoga 90 minute (OHY 90). In this class, all the postures are done only once. This class is a great stepping stone to the OHY 90, as the humidity is considerably lower. It’s also the perfect class for when you’re motivated, but a bit short on time.

First time trying Hot Yoga, starting again, or just feeling a bit nervous?

Our Original Hot Yoga 60 (unheated)  is designed just for you! This class offers the same world famous 26 postures sequence, but is taught at room temperature. This class may be a stepping stone into Original Hot Yoga 60, or the traditional Original Hot Yoga 90, or it could just be the class for you. It’s all up to you! It’s your practice!

At Studio 26, we understand and feel everyone should be able to experience the physical and spiritual benefits of this remarkable authentic series.

This class is suitable for all levels.

Yin Yoga

Lengthen. Relax. Release. The perfect complement to Hot Yoga, and well, life.

Yin is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (Yang) styles of Yoga. Yin generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine, and incorporates traditional yoga postures that are used to cool the body and deepen the breath. These gentle movements set the stage for deeper relaxation and fascial release – targeting both body and mind.

In a Yin class, you will hold each pose for between 2-5 minutes. The focus of the practice is placed upon lengthening the connective tissues, overall relaxation and a desire to improve flexibility and balance. 

Yin helps you with breathing, meditation and focus. This class is suitable for all levels. It is taught in our cool studio and incorporates bolsters and blocks for deepening and/or modifying the postures.

Pilates Mat

Sculpt. Strengthen. Stabilize. Core stability meets butt-busting workout.

Pilates is a 60-minute class taught in the cooled studio. A mind-body workout that combines flexibility, core strength, balance, and muscular overload to work the entire body.  The Pilates core series, together with the spine-strengthening postures of Core 26 Yoga, develops deep-layered core muscles, abdominal stabilization, breathing technique and efficiency of movement.

This class is predominantly a mat work class with a focus on core strengthening. A series of abdominal exercises are performed after a standing warm-up. Some exercises vary from week-to-week, but the series maintains a continuity that provides the students with a strong base and the benefit of practicing and improving their technique. Core 26 postures are included that complement the Pilates series and helps to improve posture and flexibility.

This class is beneficial to students of all levels and abilities. All the exercises have modifications to reduce or increase the intensity.

Step Aerobics

The 80’s are back? Who said they ever left!

In the 80’s, Todd was instrumental in introducing  Step classes to all the major fitness facilities in Winnipeg. During his decade as Director at the YM-YWCA of Winnipeg, he traveled across Canada as a Trainer for the National YMCA. After opening Studio 26, he focused on Original Hot Yoga but due to popular demand, and the addition of an air-conditioned second studio, he is once again teaching the very popular Step class. This class is pure fun and great for beginners as well as seasoned steppers.

Step is a classic cardio workout. It’s lasted for decades for a simple reason: It delivers results. The “step” is a 4-inch to 8-inch raised platform. You step up, around, and down from the platform in different patterns to boost your heart rate and breathing, and strengthen your muscles. Step has all the benefits of a high-intensity cardio workout without putting stress on your joints. It improves overall fitness by building strength, reducing fat, and boosting your cardiovascular health. It also burns calories, making it an ideal way to maintain your target body weight.

Weights & Bands

Boost fitness & well-being.

Weights & Bands is a toning class offered in our air-conditioned fitness studio. Weights (3-25 lbs. available) and resistance bands (3 levels of intensity) are used in this class. Suitable for all fitness levels, modifications are offered for all exercises.
 
It’s a fun class with great music and atmosphere, targeting muscular strength, endurance, and all over body composition.
